I had great plans for a 75% handmade holiday gifts this year (and was on target 2 projects done and 3 more more then 60% completed when I left all my crafts out in my car wednesday night after I arrived AT my parents house for thanksgiving. My plans are now a more modest 25% due to the breakin to my car and a thief who is apparently very interested in crafting and library books (as well as my laptop) i'm still going to try to make gifts for keeping people warm, and encouraging relaxation. As well as some gifts for storage.

This year I am trying some quilting and embroidery in addition to my standard sewing, knitting and possibly crocheting.

I'm really hoping to recieve sewing green and weekend sewing under my christmas tree.

This year, I am making tatted snowflakes to attach to th paper "shades" of flameles candle luminaries (specifically the Febreze flameless candle scents).

Yes! The new crafts I am trying this year are bobbin lace and candle-making.

I would like to receive the following STC craft book title as a gift this year: One More Skein by Leigh Radford

I'm happily making felt dolls for my little ones, and tote bags for my sisters and knitting hats for my boys and their Grandpa. Matching, of course! I am trying a new idea--a rapunzel doll. So far her hair is about 3 feet long and her head just isn't strong enough...we'll see what I can do. :) I'd love to get Vintage Baby Knits, although they're all lovely! Thanks for the opportunity.

I am planning a nearly all handmade christmas. I knit 22 gifts and have been sewing some recycled fabric tote bags. I just started sewing this year so that is my new craft. I would love to have a copy of sewing green.

*What types of handmade gifts are you making this year?
I'm doing a lot of baking again this year, but I'm also doing a craft stocking stuffer swap, where I've made a bag and lots of goodies to go in it.

*Are you trying any new crafts?
I started quilting about a year ago, and since then have expanded my sewing and I'm trying out some applique. Also stenciling.

*What is the title of one STC Craft book that you'd like to receive as a gift this year?
I'm having trouble choosing one, but I think I'd go with "Printing By Hand"

I have done some sewing (wristlets) and plan to knit some feled clogs. I don't plan to try any new crafts. I would love to win vintage baby knits.

I am eagerly anticipating my first grandchild, a boy, in January and a second grandchild in July, 2010.
Recently, I moved my sewing room upstairs to an empty bedroom. So, my goals for this holiday season is to finish the many quilt-tops I found while packing! In keeping with the spirit of giving, I donated a huge amt of art supplies & fabrics to charity for school-age children in downtown Richmond. Public schools are slicing their budgets & art classes are getting hit the hardest. It is wonderful to give items to those who need them.

In 2010, I would love to learn how to crochet and make more quilts to donate to local shelters. Santa has already given me Sewing Green & Hand-Stitched Felt. If my comment is chosen, please donate my book to a worthy charity.

The only gift I'm making this year is a knitted scarf (my-own-pattern, can't post details here!) for a guild gift exchange. Otherwise we don't exchange gifts. I just finished a folded scarf from Lynne Barr's new book. She is brilliant! Already into many, many crafts, I don't think there will be any new ones right now.

I'd love to get Knitted Socks East and West as a gift.

I've made handknit socks for all of my family and friends this year! I begin in January and made one pair each month. A friend made silk-screened muslin bags for wrapping all the socks, and I will include a lavender sachet and a printed cards that I designed, with the size, fiber, and care for each pair. Although I am a knitter, socks were new territory for me, so over the course of the year, I learned quite a bit! I'm pleased to say that now I have favorite heels and toes, and could pretty much make any sock that I want!

I would love to have "Printing by Hand"--maybe next year I could make my own silk-screened bags!!

*What types of handmade gifts are you making this year?

This year, I've sewn a lot of gifts, including a quilt, a table runner, and some napkins. I'm also doing a bit of cross-stitch.

*Are you trying any new crafts?

I've just started to learn more about embroidery, and I'm looking into doing a few projects, including embroidered dishcloths.

*What is the title of one STC Craft book that you'd like to receive as a gift this year?

I'd love a copy of Quilting for Peace.

Thanks!

This year, I am learning to sew! I received a new Janome for my bday/Christmas present and am so excited! I'm making scarves, linen napkins, bracelets, hair ties, & a flower brooch. I'm also knitting Christmas ornaments as well and going to try to make felt balls at some point. We also make our own Christmas card/letters. So many projects, so little time!

For a book, i think I'd like the Last-Minute Fabric Gifts, though the ones for baby knits are enticing, too!

I am knitting cowls, mittens and socks for gifts this year. I am a new weaver and plan to learn more about weaving after the holidays. I would love to receive Reversible Knitting. I like the idea of no wrong side.

I am knitting fingerless gloves, sewing pajama pants, slippers and headbands. I am also making small felt ornaments with embroidery, and the embroidery is very new to me. I am determined to learn how to make a french knot!

I would love to own the new Alabama Style book. I haven't even seen it yet, but I'm sure I want to own it. Thanks for the chance to win it!

I am making a crochet scarf. This is my first granny square project. I'm going to bake a cake. I'll probably end up buying most of my presents this year.

No new crafts this year. But next year I'm going to try embroidery and needle felting.

I would like the Printing By Hand book. It seems like something fun to try.

Making: knitted fingerless mitts for female family members and friends.
New crafts: none.
STC craft book: Knitting 24/7

I am sewing potholders and iPod and Kindle cozy/covers. Keeping it simple this year because I have a four week old baby to keep me busy...so I also won't be trying out any new crafts this holiday season.

I would love to have a copy of Quilting for Peace.

*What types of handmade gifts are you making this year?

I am making a bandana, tea towel, and journal cover from the Alabama Stitch Book.

*Are you trying any new crafts? Applique and reverse applique.

*What is the title of one STC Craft book that you'd like to receive as a gift this year?

Knitting 24/7.

Thanks, Melanie!

Because I am insane I am knitting gifts for every person on my list this year. Sweaters - 2 (my first 2 - poor hubby gets the trial run), shawls: 2, scarves: 4, toys (!): 3 or more, depending on how much time I have, fingerless mitts: many, hats: 2. I think that covers it.

No new crafts this year. My plate is full enough.

Hard to choose a favorite, but I'd love Knit 2 Together.

Thanks for the chance!!

* What types of handmade gifts are you making this year?
I've already finished two sets of scarves, mittens and caps and planning a shawl.

*Are you trying any new crafts?
I've been dabbling in bobbin lace and weaving, but my main focus and passion is knitting, spinning and sometimes crocheting.

*What is the title of one STC Craft book that you'd like to receive as a gift this year?
I've found that I already own most of the knitting books. - Honestly, M. F. seems to be a kind of guarantee for these. "Knitting 24/7" would be a good choice, but I understand it isn't published yet. So I'd go for "Knits men want".

This year I'm sewing some napkins, a patchwork scarf, a hot-water-bottle cover, a lap quilt, and some quilted placemats. I'm also making a few pieces of beaded jewellery.

The new craft I'm trying out is shoemaking! I'd like to make a pair of house slippers with rubber or leather bottoms rather than all-fabric, so this is a new craft for me. These are for a birthday in January so not strictly a holiday present, but it'll probably take me that long to make them.

I live in the UK so I'm not eligible for the prize draw - but I wanted to share anyway!

PS. Hilary, sorry to hear that some of your projects were stolen from your car. How disappointing! I hope you'll still enjoy making as many as you can for the holidays.
