Lately I have been sewing some cloches. Now I am sewing a coat.
I really would like to have the book of Natalie Chaning " Alabama Stitich book". I would really like to sew the skirt from this book.
I am going to sew a summery shirt for myself. It's the Simplicity 3835 pattern. I haven't sewn any clothes for myself since high school (25 years ago), so I'm hoping it will all come back to me again. I also want to sew some projects for my home like a table runner for my kitchen table and some coasters. The book I'd like to have is Sewing Green.
I'm currently working on a patchwork quilt for my daughter for when she graduates from her crib to the toddler bed. I'm also knitting the Ingenue sweater from Wendy Bernard's Custom Knits.
The book I'd most like to receive would be Weekend Sewing, although The Gentle Art of Domesticity comes a very close second.
My favorite current HBO show is True Blood, although Sex and the City is my favorite overall.
I just bought Weekend Sewing and I am going to be making the weekend sundress. I have been looking at the Alabama Stitch Book for a loooong time and would love to receive a copy!
Great giveaway! Let's see, I plan to make library tote bags for my girls, I love Flight of the Conchords and The Sopranos, and I'd very much love a copy of Weekend Sewing! Thanks!
I'm currently about an hour away from finishing an adorable little knit sweater for my niece's first birthday.
I'd love to win a copy of Weekend Sewing (can't wait to get my hands on it!)
My favorite HBO show is Six Feet Under -- wish it was still on!
Thanks for the chance to win.
I just recently received my Alabama Stitch Book in the mail and have been entranced ever since. I am planning on sewing one of the skirts in the book, the t shirts are all laid out and waiting (but first I have to finish my 'Easter' Weekend Sewing kimono from Heather Ross).
With so many wonderful books to choose from, it is hard to narrow it down. And I have quite a few on the list...but I would love to add Last Minute Patchwork. Because I need more inspiration.
And the Flight of the Conchords, of course. Love those Kiwis.
I love the stitching around the neckline and armholes. What a creative idea!! What a difference a decorative stitch can add to a tee. Love, love, love the idea.
Currently, I am working on a rather simple quilt for charity. I am making a lap quilt. One one side, I'm inserting a row of 2x5 blocks pieced together between two pieces of fabric. I'm cutting the fabric off center to the left and inserting the row of blocks vertically in between the two pieces of fabric. It's a yard piece of fabric. There are three different blocks that repeat, which coordinate with the colors in the fabric, plus one from the backing. Then for the backing: I'm making flying geese blocks from two of the brighter fabrics from the 2x5 blocks in the front. I'll cut the backing fabric (again a yard piece of fabric) off center top/bottom and insert the row of flying geese horizontally. The backing is a coordinate to the fabric in the front with a bright pink added. With spring coming, I love the light blue with white, gold, a little darker blue, and bright pink butterflies. Then I plan to do a tiny embroidery in a few of the blocks and just do straight line quilting either vertically or horizontally. Then the finale will be the bright pink binding.
Our associate pastor at church takes lap quilts to the sick and shut-ins when she goes to visit. I myself am disabled and get to do a minimum of quilting. If helps my spirits to "get out of self" and do something for someone else - just as you are blessing someone with the beautiful tee and a book of her choice.
I'm excited about "designing" this quilt myself and hopefully being able to finish my first (maybe second, if I can get the binding stitched down) quilt in over a year. I'd love for someone to have this quilt at possibly at a downtime in life, especially at this spring and Easter - a time of renewal and hope.
If I should be selected, I would be thrilled to have any book. I think my first choice would be Material Obsession, followed closely by Weekend Knitting - whatever is available. If neither is available, anything will inspire the creativity in me.
I'm anxious for my next endeavor to try to use "manly" colors as I've noticed most of the prints and colors that our group choses are more suited to the women and the men need lap quilts suited to their interests, too. I had planned one for a man and as soon as the binding is down, it will be my grandson's first handmade quilt from his Ga.
Thank you for a wonderful site and being so giving to the creative community.

Great giveaway, thanks! I just completed a few baby gifts - several bloomers from Heather Ross's new book, and two matching baby quilts - one in fuchsia and gold for a baby girl and one in blues and browns for a baby boy. It's currently in the washer as I type this, getting ready to get all nice and crinkly! Next up, probably another quilt! I'd love to win - can't decide on which book - probably either the Alabama Stitch Book or Sewing Green - I keep hearing great things about both. I'm still a fan of Sex and the City. Somehow those reruns just never get old for me!
-- Currently knitting dishcloths to match our kitchen decor. Yeah, my project is a little boring.
-- I'd like Weekend Knitting. It's already on my wishlist.
I am currently working on a tie dyed t-shirt quilt with peace signs in the Alabama Stitch Book style. I can't decide how big to make it but the squares are a good thing to keep in the car to work on while waiting for the kids at their activities. I keep reading about Heather Ross'new book Weekend Sewing. I followed her on the blog tour, and I would love to receive her book if I should be chosen.
I ama ctually working on the rose scarf from the Alabama Stitch book, but I got the kit in brown, so lovely. My favorite HBO show was SATC, but now - True Blood.
Hi.
I recently attended a workshop in Alabama with NC at her studio. I have made several items from her book and am working on a piece from her ss09 collection. My plan is to try to make all of my clothing for the next couple of seasons. I am also knitting the owl sweater from needled.wordpress.com and am planning on knitting her paperdoll sweater as well. I love Oliver and S patterns for my 5 year old daughter too!
I would love to win the t-shirt and the weekend sewing book from Heather Ross.
My favorite show from HBO is Sex and the City. I am also looking forward to the new series The #1 ladies Detective Agency.
Thank you for this opportunity!
Thanks for offering this giveaway! I already own "Alabama Stitch" and have been planning to make the rooster shirt, though the skirt project also calls to me. I would love to have a copy of Betz White's new "Sewing Green," since the preview posted on this blog made it look so good. And my favorite HBO show is definitely "Sex and the City," even though it's no longer in production.
I also just attended the Studio Weekend at the Alabama Chanin Factory and am working on finishing the coat that I started there. I am also getting a head start on some holiday sewing with recycled cashmere sweaters. I consume sewing and craft books, so I have actually already checked out and read most of the books listed from the public library. I can't wait to see Natalie's next book and would love to be on the list for that when it comes out next year! Thanks for the opportunity to win this cool shirt and a book. I love many of the HBO shows, but my current favorite is Entourage. Happy Spring!
I would love to have the shirt and the book "Sewing Green". I alreay have "The Alabama Stitch Book" and love it! I have made various garments and recipes from it! Thank you!
I am making a sweatshirt jacket inspired by The Alabama Stitch Book. I would like the book "Printing by Hand"....my favorite HBO shows are Sex in the City and Flight of the Conchords.
thanks!
I'm working on a set of linen drapes in a buttery yellow with brown appliqued fennel plants. Just finished an Alabama Chanin beaded skirt. I'd love to have a copy of 'Sewing Green'. And I love Flight of the Conchords!
What a great give away. I am currently pondering over a skirt design I have in my head and want to make for my two girls. I have started making the paper pattern, but still have to improve on it before I start cutting fabric. I am very excited about it, though.
If I win I would love to have a copy of Zakka Sewing.
I'm currently knitting a shawl that is composed of individual hexagons that are picked up and knit consecutively so there is no sewing involved - though there are lots of yarn ends that will need to be woven in! I would love to win the book KnitKnit. My favorite HBO shows are no longer on: Six Feet Under & Sex and the City
