STC Craft on Flickr

I am both a craft-book author and craft-book editor, so I can  tell you with authority that there is hardly anything more gratifying to an author or editor than seeing the ways in which our work has inspired others. With that in mind, I am posting to let you know about STC Craft's new Flickr goup. We just started it so it's very small, but, of course, we're hoping a lot of people will join and post photos of projects they have made from the books we publish. To check out the Flickr group, click here. To see all of the books we publish, click on our online catalog at right.

The photo above shows all of the socks in Judy Sumner's book Knitted Socks East and West  spread out on a desk in my office. I just uploaded this image to Flickr. I've also just posted a gallery of images from Knitted Socks East and West here. This book will be released in August (around the time of the amazing Sock Summit).

What a cool photo--the kind that makes one's feet happy just to look at it.

Melanie, I am just finishing up a post today about finally, after all these years of watching *me* knit, I gathered the patience to teach my daughter (age 10) to knit. Your Kids Knitting book has been on my shelf just waiting for this. We read through, she started a beanbag, which she has proudly completed 5 rows of. She has her own little drawstring knitting bag and since yesterday when she started, has stolen every possible moment to do a few stitches. Your book inspired me long before Emma was even able to hold 2 knitting needles. I bought it ages ago, knowing there would come a day like yesterday. Thanks so much.

Blair,
Thanks very much for sharing this story. It is so motivating and heartwarming to know that you and your daughter are having such a good experience with Kids Knitting. I look forward to reading your post.

Hi Melanie,
I would love to pre-order the Judy Sumner book and pick up at Sock Summit. Can that happen at a booth at the market? It looks wonderful and Judy has so many fans. Thanks, Lu

Dear Lu,
We are planning to have the book at the Sock Summit. We're still figuring out which vendors who might want to stock it will be there. I'll try to remember to post the information here on the blog, but if you don't see anything about it at the end of July, please send another note.

This will be fun to contribute a photo to and also get a peek at what everyone else is doing with the same patterns. Enjoy your day.
