Free Patterns for Holiday Crafting, Plus STC Craft Book Giveaway

Though it seems like just yesterday that we were sewing summer sundresses and knitting camisoles out of linen, here at STC Craft, the alarm on our seasonal clocks just went off; we feel it is our duty to inform you (gulp) that it is time to start thinking about holiday crafting.

As crafty types, we know that there is no better expression of love and sincerity than giving (or receiving) a handmade gift. We conceive our handmade gift lists with the best possible intentions, though somehow we always seem to get in over our heads. (Has anyone else found their kitchen table covered in bits of thread, glitter glue, and sugar cookies in the middle of the night, or stayed up until 3 a.m. ripping uneven pleats out of an apron sewn too fast?) But holiday crafting does not have to be a slap-dash, panic-filled ordeal. The secret? Plan well and start early.

To that end, in hopes of giving you a big helping hand in your holiday crafting this year, STC Craft is pleased to present a collection of 20 free patterns from a wide selection of our books. Whether you knit, sew, stitch, or stamp, there’s something here for everyone. Simply click on any of the images below to download the pattern.

The Cleo Kitty Slippers are adorable! I just finished the Stella Pixie Hat from Vintage Baby Knits. So many great patterns to choose from in that book...

I can't wait to make the vintage baby kitty slippers! They will be so sweet on my baby niece! Thank you so much!

I'm really tempted by slinky ribs. Classic lines but enough to keep me interested. I have a sister it would look great on too!

I'd like to make some of the Sewing Green bags!

I really love all the books here, and I own most of them, Yay!
Right now I have "One more skein" and "Vintage baby knits" on my wishlist, I must knit the cute little Pixie-hat, and Leigh Radford always have interesting designs!

I might try the flower washcloth. Pair it with some handmade soaps, salt scrub in a cute bag/basket. What easy gifts, that won't take tons of time.

Even though it's Fall in Maine, I'm going to make the sundress for my granddaughter. I think it will be cute with a t-shirt underneath. I'm a sucker for notebooks so I'm going to try the printed notebook pattern. I've never tried that kind of craft before so I'm looking forward to trying something new.

I love the produce bags from Sewing Green. Those and some quick totes would make some nice gifts for people this year. lsmucker@hotmail.com

I can't wait to try the natural produce bags and the smocked sundress!

I really like the earflap hat and the elf hat. I've made a hat similar to the meathead hat and it's pretty cute, especially with a pompom on the top. Love all the books!

I think I should finally knit one of those flower washcloths, I have had it in my list for a couple of years. And I need to make some green produce bags as well. But I have already made the Heather Ross sundress, the pixie hat from Knitalong and the needle book from Kid's Embroidery.

As far as books, I would love to own a copy of upcoming book Kata Golda's Hand-Stitched Felt or (since it is not out yet) Last Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts.

I'd be most apt to make the flower wash cloths for the women in my family but the kitten shoes for my nieces. Either way there'll be lots of knitting in the upcoming months!

I just love the flower wash cloths and the children's hats. I have always been attracted to pointy children's hats.

Um. All of them!! Ok, mostly I want to knit those kitty slippers, the flower washcloths, and the slinky ribbed sweater from Custom Knits. Thanks so much for the patterns!

I'm really tempted to make the Motor City Arm Warmers. They look great and will be nice for the coming winter.

Definitely making the produce bag--maybe tonight. And I've made the washcloth, paired it with hand-made soap as a gift and (at least to me!) it was like giving someone a mini-spa....

Oh yeah! I'll be making child and adult-sized Meathead hats from "Knitalong" for holiday gifts this year! it's a great pattern!
