    My New Year's Resolution

It's 2010 and one of my resolutions for the new year is to spend at least 10 minutes crafting each day. Above is my in-progress Beaded-Applique Swing Skirt (also known as the Applique Rose Swing Skirt) from Alabama Stitch Book by Natalie Chanin. I'm proud to say I've worked on it every day so far.

When it's done, it will look like this.

That is an excellent resolution! I've been working steadily on Lynne Barr's reversible mini-dress with the folded skirt, and can't wait to finish it! So far it has been a fun project--a great way to ring in 2010. Like you, I'm looking forward to a lot of crafting this new year!

That is the best kind of resolution. Your skirt is just beautiful! I'm trying to finish up my bloomers skirt - one panel left.

    Hi Melanie!

I just finished this skirt (still working on that 16-panel dress -- had to have a diversion, it intimidates me so) and it turned out great! I love it. I am expecting (due in March) so I can't really get into it right now, but I'm looking forward to wearing it soon!!

    Allison,
Congratulations! I'm so happy to hear about the baby (the news about the skirt is cool too, but . . .).

Lovely resolution! It is so much better than the idea of working out more, or changing one's eating habits. Instead, feed the soul! Creation is the best. I'm not yet sewing, but, I will as soon as I complete my present knit sweater!

I hope you enjoy each and every minute. I just finished the reverse applique corset from Alabama Stitch. Its a very rewarding experience once its finished.
I cannot wait to see your finished skirt.

    Happy New Year!

    Melanie,

It looks GREAT! Can't wait to see it on you - in person.
Hope to see you more in this New Year (Decade)!

    Happy Sewing!

That's a great resolution- sometimes I know I don't have long chunks of time for crafting so I don't do anything, but a 10-minute goal is totally doable! I think the skirt is great- especially like that colorway. My sister has made several projects from the Alabama Stitch book and I have been the lucky recipient of a couple, my goal is to make one for myself this year!

The 10 minute rule works really well. I want to make one of those skirts too - but I'm always knitting!
