Weekend Knitting Cover Story

When my book Weekend Knitting was first published in 2003, this was its cover.

It stayed that way until it was released a few weeks ago in paperback with this cover.

Honestly, I like both of these choices. But there was another cover that I rallied for in both hardcover and paperback. It wasn't chosen either time, so I figured I'd share it here.

Thanks to Susi Oberhelman and Ericka McConnell for providing the beautiful graphic design and photography, respectively. What a pleasure to have so many wonderful choices! Thanks also to Deborah Newton, who designed the Garter-Cuff Fingerless Gloves in the photo on the hardcover, and to Pam Allen, who designed the Farmer's Market Bag in the photo on the paperback, and to our lovely models. To see a sampling of images from inside the book, click here. To see a few interior pages, click on the small book cover image at right.

I'm with you - I LOVE the bathtub almost-cover. It really conveys the idea of "Weekend Kniting." Maybe I'll print out the picture and attach it to the cover of my book.

I can't see the cover that was your original choice?......however I love both of these too....the rich autumnal colours of the hardback drew me in when I first spotted it in my LYS several years ago......I also made the market bag for my mum and it became her favourite carry all instantly.....
All the photos in this book are just beautiful.....must have been hard to narrow it down to one image for the cover!

I would have voted for the bathtub too. And I love the idea of printing it out to attach to my copy of the book--to funny, Laurie!

this was the very first knitting book i ever bought. i knit my first sweater, my first lace and about 25 pairs of the garter stitch mitts using this book. it is precious to me and sits bedside. i flip through it often to remind myself just how much i love knitting. thank you so much for being instrumental in creating my knitting love.

Definitely the bathtub shot!!! I am not a knitter...but I get being obsessed with creating and this is well...funny and endearing. I love it. Who is the audience? But, I only think of the creative end...I hate it when they say,"but, how do we market this?" UHHHHHH.

Your publisher should listen to you! The bathtub cover is the best. Humorous and eye-catching.

Love your WEEKEND KNITTING book. I have not been able to find the pattern for the beautiful scarf pictured on page 58 (a plum lacy scarf with green trimming). Is it not available in this book? I would love to be able to make it for myself.

I thank you in advance for your response.

Santa,
That is the Lopi Lace Scarf. The pattern is on page 60.
